F1400 Starwolf and Starmax Bomber

Update!

Here's another update, since there won't be another posting for the whole of next week. And what way to commemorate this is by putting up my most prized collection which I refurbished. I manage to get them a few months ago and seeing their condition...

Yup...same look I got when I bought it. But you can't say much since it has been around for more than 20 years, so that's why I need to do something about it. Armed with enough experience to refurbish a toy, I worked on it for a few weeks...Since it was mine so I didn't have any time limit...and I wanted to make sure it was perfect!

After weeks and a lot of patience...it was finally finished...here it is....

Ahhhh...the good ol' toys of the 80's. Mind you that some of the 80's produced some lame toys...but Starcom...they produced some of the best! I would love to see them back in the market and I definitely will get them all!

Masterpiece Nemesis Prime

Update!

Well, it has been awhile I've worked on any nemesis prime color schemes...so I was a bit surprised when an ol' client and friend of mine emailed me to ask me to repaint one of his masterpieces. What he passed me was the MP02 Ultra Magnus to repaint it to the nemesis black scheme. I was a bit worried and asked him if he really thought it thru...and he said,'Got 2 more at home, so no worries...'. Whoa....

So got to it when I got home. The colors for this time around I chose flat black. Why? Simple, it looks leaner and meaner...heheheh...

And here is the fella in its prime...hahahaha...

More to come!

Hasbro X-Wing Red 5

Update!

Here's another piece of work that I finished a few days back. My friend and owner of the Hasbro Millenium Falcon that I did a while back recommended me to his friend who wants to repaint his Hasbro X-Wing. I have worked on the Finemolds version so having a big one like this was going to be another challenge for me. But as we all know, the more we practice, the more experience we get and I for one am truly thankful for an opportunity like this.

Here was how it looked like before I worked on the fella...

As you can see, it looks rather plain despite having the blasts marks and a little bit of weathering. Missing is the markings on the wings to indicate it being Red 5, Luke Skywalker's personal starfighter. And the other markings are all paper decals which to me is not really a good thing.

So after stripping of the decals and cleaning it, primed it accordingly and making sure that I got every nook and cranny of the ship. Once primed, coated it with its base color for a few layers and making sure that its spread even. Putting it out to dry for 2 whole days in the nice hot sun would definitely assure me the paints will stick. Then came the horrifying task of masking it to make the details and markings.

The wing markings. It was tedious but fun...LOL...

When all of it is done, the weathering began! One thing that we always have to remember when doing weathering is that we have to know where to put it and how the ship flows. Once the weathering is done, I applied a very very thin layer of pale gray which was composed of 50% paint and 50% thinner. This is a technique I lovingly call the 'space dust'. Spraying must be done from a length of 30-40 cm. Too close, you will end up covering the markings and weathering and all work is done for nothing...heh...

And here it is...

And there you have it. There will be more Star Wars vehicles posted soon, so keep your eyes peeled!

Neo Protectobots Project - NEO HOTSPOT

Update!

Finally the first of the Neo Protectobots is up. Actually this project has been on for quite some time. There were a lot of crash and burn processes that didn't actually work well, so I decided to scrap the idea and introduced a different technique (pre-shading) which I usually use on my Gundam builds for this project.

It came out quite well and gave it the Neo Protectobot look a whole different image. So here's the first and the leader for the team...

Binaltech Meister G1 Edition

Update!

Here's another BT that I repainted to G1 colors but with a twist. It's my first time attempting to do custom decals. And it was a success, a little bit of tweaking and hopefully I can make it to mass production.

Anyhoo, this is how the fella looks like. Credit goes to the owner Wan Hizal for the photos.

There you have it. If anybody is interested to do this custom, you can contact me via email at ryukaze@gmail.com. And no worries about the pricing, one thing RK Designs is known for is that it's affordable! Remember, I'm a fan too.
