Hasbro Jedi Starfighter (Hot Rod Scheme)

Update!

Okay this was quite an old project actually. Thankfully I had a very patient client/friend (Sorry Bang Ajie! heh). The reason that it took long was the amount of trials and errors (a lot of errors!) while doing it. You see, my friend wanted something different. And he saw this scheme in one of his Star Wars concept book. It was called the 'Hot Rod' scheme.

When I first saw it, I was excited and scared at the same time. Yes, the amount of masking would be phenomenal...but like always, I do love a challenge.

So as the project began, there were a bunch of techniques I tried which didn't go as I thought it would. Until finally...it worked.

So here's the Jedi Starfighter with the 'Hot Rod' scheme.

Next up is some Gundams and an X-Wing...say whaaaaaat?! Heh...

6 Inch Ironman 2 Mark VI repaint

Update!

I've got piles of work that needs to be finished before I go for my holidays. Talk about a busy month. Thankfully I've got really understanding customers, so..thanks a bunch guys..

Recently I managed to get my hands on some 6 inch Ironman 2 figures. When the toys came out in the 3 inch series I was totally not interested. Didn't even plan to get any...until I found out they came out in 6 inches...

So with my lovely wife getting me a War Machine, I had to have the Mark 6. The details and mold itself was fantastic. But as usual, I didn't really like the colors. I know the Mark 6 is an upgrade, but the color scheme seemed incomplete (to me that is).

I preferred the Mark III scheme, so after playing with the figure for awhile...I got him into the studio to be repainted. Following the Mark III scheme and used a different kind of red. First I started with the priming, making sure I got all of the areas then later applied a silver as the base coat. Then applied gloss red to bring up the beautiful shine and later applied metallic red, then did some heavy masking and applied the gold. Added some panel linings and touched up some gold areas via hand brushing. Once done, I applied two layers of gloss coat for the finishing...

And yes. I was happy after that. When put next to War Machine, they are matched. Heh...

Hasbro Millenium Falcon 2008

Update!

Alright! An update finally!! Okay...hope that everybody who follows this blog o' mine is patient with me...LOL...

Here's one of my works that I did for a friend a few weeks back...Did a few so I'll be updating RK Designs as much as I can...

Well, I was presented with a monumental task...yes, when I mention monumental I mean its HUGE! Recently Hasbro released a new mold for the Millenium Falcon. Triple the size of the original and with a large amount of detail to it. Sadly, being a toy it lacked depth of its details. I was planning to get one for myself and repainted it, but with a hefty price tag to it...I had to think many times and decided on a no...

Luckily I had a friend who wanted to upgrade his Falcon and I was eager to oblige to his whims...so here it is...With some pre-shading and also weathering.

Before: Priming...

Done: The Millenium Falcon

Close Ups:

I'm working on another Falcon, but the vintage series version. Hopefully I can make it look just as good.

Cheerios!
