Update!

Another work completed a while back.

Story goes, I had this guy for a time...which is the Wolf Hound. From the G.I. Joe Rise Of Cobra line. Then I sold it off. Don't ask why...

Then later I got hit by the Joe bug again and felt the need to have this guy again. Traded with a friend of mine and was suggested by my best friend to paint it with relevant colors. I thought about it and yeah, I don't really need a Joe snow vehicle. Here's how it originally looks like:

So after some color decisions, I took the original idea my best bud gave me. (Thanks Reza!)

Hasbro X-Wing Red Two

Update!

Now how long has it been? Awhile right? Yeah I know it is...Well, I've been busy with moving and all, which actually took more time than I thought. Hahahaha...

Anyhoo, just a couple of weeks ago I managed to set up my studio. FINALLY! Actually not fully, since my toys are mostly still in boxes. Just had to make sure that my airbrushing area and all the equipment are ready. And sure it is. So, once it was all done I had to tackle the job that I left quite awhile back. Thankfully the owner was cool with it, maybe I was burning out since I wasn't as productive as I used to be...

Okay, so what did I do? Read the title? Yep...another Hasbro X-Wing. This time around it's Red Two, or Wedge Antilles personal fighter. Now as we all know, the new X-wing's are pretty awesome. Close to being accurate to the real thing, but not as good as any Finemolds kit. But beggars can't be choosers right?

So, after some planning and instructions from the owner...I got to it! (well it was already primed and pre-shaded...heheheh) One of the reasons this project took a long time was designing the cockpit. The owner actually wanted me to design and if it was possible to create a light up cockpit with all the details. I made a few prototypes but it all got messed up as well as trying to smack it in the fighter, it didn't work. It took me months. When I finally decided to just give it details in the cockpit.

Once it was all done, went to finalising the body. Gave it a different feel this time around. All the black or darken areas were given the drybrushing treatment.

Here it is, finally.

Alrights. Looks like this guy is done. After showing some preview pictures to him, he was pretty excited to get it. And when the day came, let's just say...I was a happy painter, he loved it!

Simple Figure Weathering Tutorial

TUTORIAL!

Hey guys...I usually put up my tutorials or works in progress in my Facebook page, but I've been thinking...not everybody goes on FB all the time right? What about people who follow my blog? So here just for you guys, I've prepared a simple tutorial...

I've always been asked about ways to improve a figure. And I'd tell them the hows and the tools to use. Some get it, and some might be wondering what the heck I was talking about. Now here' something you can do with just a few tools to increase your figures looks.

Okay, so I have here is a Star Wars figure. An Rebel Alliance pilot named Dorovio Bold. She came in a 3 pack pilot Star Wars set. Here's the figure:

As you can see, her orange flight suit is pretty bright right? So we're going to learn how to improve if not a bit on her suit. What do you need?

- The figure.
- Some cotton buds.
- Gundam Real Touch Marker (Black).

See...that's all. Now, let's start working!

1. Alright, first and foremost is make sure your figure is clean. Wash it, wipe it, brush it or what ever. Once that's done, next thing is start drawing using the markers on the creases and folded areas of your figure as seen in the picture below. I used the big spread end of the marker to get a better range of areas.

2. Then take a cotton bud and wipe the area. Now don't worry, it will look all smudgy.

3. Now use the other end of the cotton bud and clean up the areas by pressing it harder and scrubbing it. You can control the amount of darken areas by the pressure of your scrubbing. The harder you push, the clearer the area.

4. And it's all done! Using steps 1 till 3, repeat it on the whole body!

MG RGM-79C Powered GM

Update!

Here's something that I've been doing for a very very very long time. Yes, I think close to almost 2 years or so...actually it was prepped ready to be painted, but yeah, it took a while.

Anyhoo, I got this kit from a friend of mine. He had the MG RGM-79C and a 3rd party upgrade kit to make it into the Powered GM. When I first saw the kit, it was in a pretty bad shape. Just trying my luck, I asked if he wanted to sell it...and to my happiness he said yes.

Now, I've always like the RGM mechas from the Gundam series. I think they kinda kick ass. They ain't no Gundam, but they were cool. And one of my favourites was the Powered GM. I had the 1/144 HGUC version which to me was fantastic, but I liked my bots to be big. So having this MG version was dream come true. But it took me awhile (for me, 2 years for a personal project is 'awhile'...heh) to work on it until the end. Cleaned it up, stripped the paint. Fix some of the internal parts to have it tight again. And after working on it bit by bit...it was done. My last batch of flat clear coating was used to finalise this guy.

Hasbro Jedi Starfighter (Hot Rod Scheme)

Update!

Okay this was quite an old project actually. Thankfully I had a very patient client/friend (Sorry Bang Ajie! heh). The reason that it took long was the amount of trials and errors (a lot of errors!) while doing it. You see, my friend wanted something different. And he saw this scheme in one of his Star Wars concept book. It was called the 'Hot Rod' scheme.

When I first saw it, I was excited and scared at the same time. Yes, the amount of masking would be phenomenal...but like always, I do love a challenge.

So as the project began, there were a bunch of techniques I tried which didn't go as I thought it would. Until finally...it worked.

So here's the Jedi Starfighter with the 'Hot Rod' scheme.

Next up is some Gundams and an X-Wing...say whaaaaaat?! Heh...
