3rd Party KFC Citizen Stack Custom Repaint (Ultra Magnus)

Update!

It's been awhile. So let's just skip the pleasantries and get to it!

So I received a 3rd party Transformers from a friend to repaint. It's from KFC Toys (not the finger lickin' good company okay...), called Citizen Stack or more apt, Ultra Magnus. Now the plastic and design is pretty good...decent you might say. But I do have some complaints on the head tho. Luckily my friend manage to grab another headsculpt from another company which is far better than the original.

Now the name of course was pretty interesting, I didn't understood it initially but then I remembered the voice actor for Ultra Magnus in the 1986 Transformers Movie. So I guess it makes sense now...heh.

Okay, so what did I do? First of all did some test run on the colors. I didn't like the dark blue of the original and opt for a lighter blue like the cartoon version but slightly darker like the IDW comic version. Highlighted some details and got rid of all that icky blings.

So here it is.

So there you have it folks! Stay tuned for more custom works from RK Designs Studio.

Yeah...I'm back.

Masterpiece Grimlock (Animation Ver.)

Update!

Hokay.

My bad.

I forgot about the other MP Grimlock that I completed many moons ago. Again I thought it was, but the again it wasn't...looks like I am getting old. Another 3 years I'm hitting the big 4-0...hahahaha...

Okay, so this client requested I di a simple finishing. Get rid of the gold and chrome and make it look as close to it's animated version. The gray parts was actually sprayed with clear flat coat rather than doing a full on gray repaint.

Looks good IMHO...

Here he is...

There ya all go. Heh. Sorry again to the client!
Next up...one name: MAGNUS!

Hasbro Ironman 2 War Machine (Re-Imagined)

Update!

Jeez...how hard it is for me to update nowadays...hahahah...

Okay, so a little while ago (make that a few years) I was given by a friend an extra War Machine figure. Since it was an extra, I did it up into the milk version...if you all remembered it, here's the link:

I tried to sell it in the local market, but apparently nobody seemed to be interested (unless it was a Hot Toys figure...). So after some time, I stripped off the paint and planned to make another color scheme.

That was many months ago before my little Audrey was born.

Got back into painting after a long break and I need to finish up some Ironman figures. So I had to do some R&D in getting the right colors and I sort of stumbled upon this new color.

Getting inspiration, I remembered the War Machine that I was working on. The idea behind it now was a 'What if...' situation.

What if Tony Stark actually made the War Machine armour for himself?

This is your answer...

Yup...I think he looks pretty good, but I'm upset that the camera didn't manage to capture his 'true' colors like this:

Known as Candy Red with a base coat of gold and black. Might plan to sell it, but still pondering on that. Heh.

Until next time then!
Ciao!

Hasbro Generations Hauler

Update!

Yeah...I'm suppose to post some other works, but I felt like sharing this guy first...heh...

A long time ago, I managed to get hold of a Generations Inferno. I loved the mold and the design...Years later, I lost interest and planned to repaint the guy into something else...

Grapple? It's been done...

So I asked some ideas from friends in the Transformers collectors group. One of them suggested Hauler. I quickly looked it up. And yes, there is such a character and furthermore...he was in one of the first episodes of the classic G1 cartoon series!

With new vigour, and feeling good about being back to customising...Hauler was in the works...

After a few weeks of working on him (had to schedule my time with commissioned works as well)...here he is...

Yeah...and that concludes our story for today. Heh. Stay tune for my next posting!

Masterpiece Grimlock (Full Repaint)

Update!!

Hey guys...okay, I'm mixing my postings a bit. Was supposed to continue with the remaining 2 Imagins from the Den-O repaint, but I was thinking why not save that and share something else...

Hookay, the last time I actually repainted a Transformer figure was way back in 2012...I think it was after endless repainting of Transformer movie figures, I was burnt out. Not to mention kick starting my own TF repaints was also a struggle...so after a year plus, I'm back to painting the good ol' robots in disguise. It felt good really, and with the new technical know how's...it was pretty interesting to use those new tricks...

And what better way to start off with a Transformers Masterpiece figure. Not just any figure, but that big lug head Grimlock!

Interesting thing about working with this figure, was actually the owner himself. It was a joy to work with him since he knew what he wanted. He also gave me some creative freedom to add some of my own touch in painting his figure. And now he's become one of my good friends and it's interesting to see the ideas that he has and wants to do...

So, this particular MP Grimlock went through a full body repaint. As in, every single part of his body was repainted. The gold part was painted yellow with some light orange stripes, and the chrome parts was painted white. The gray was an interesting mix, since the owner actually had some ideas on how he wanted his gray...so I gave him a twist of metallic gray with a tinge of light silver on top.

The down part of this was the whole folder of pictures that I took was corrupted, and I had to ask the owner to take some pics for my portfolio...

"Me Grimlock not repaint...Me King!!"

Well, I can really say that with this guy...it marks me back in repainting Transformers figures. I finally took out most of my TF personal project that I worked on a while back...so stay tuned!

Bandai's SIC Kamen Rider Den-O Imagins

Update!!

Yup...the first posting of a custom work after disappearing for a while.

Actually, there were a few jobs that I've managed to finish in the past month...but I was thinking that maybe I should start out with a project that has been with me for quite some time.

When I was approached for this project, the owner requested for me to do an 'uncontracted' version of these so called Imagins. They're like demons from another world and once they have made a deal with a human, they have proper 'colored' bodies.

No I had to search on what were the uncontracted colors were and luckily there were vinyl figures that was made. So based on that reference, I added my own touch to create Imagins with no contract.

I'm putting up these 3 first since during the show, these 3 bozos actually played quite the role...so I give you, Den-O imagins...

First up is:
Momotaros

Second:
Urataros

Third up is:
Kintaros

Alright...dayum that felt good! It's really a good feeling to be able to share my works again.
Okay, till I see you guys soon...which will be really soon!

Cheers!

RKD Is Back!!!

Salutations to everyone!

Yes, as the title says...RKD Studios is back. After almost a half year break, I'm back. And it looks like I'm gonna be really busy in trying to clear up my backlogged commissioned works. My beautiful baby girl has been home for the past 3 months and I've been trying to work out my schedule amidst going for my day job as well. It's hard, but my wife and I are managing it okay.

But seriously...it is good to be back. As some of you might realise, RKD's Facebook page has just recently been updated with some works. Not to worry, like before...there will be postings for both and as usual, each posting will be different from the other.

So stay tune friends and followers...I'll be posting custom works like before...

It has been an amazing and heart wrenching time with the birth of our little girl, but with faith in God...she's growing stronger and healthier by the day.

A very big thank you for the prayers that was sent to us regarding our child, as well as the patience and understanding of my clients/friends for the time that I had to take a leave of absence from customising.

Dang...it's good to be back!

RK Designs On Hold.

Hi everyone!

Sorry there hasn't been any new postings lately. There's a bunch of reasons, but most of all...

The birth of my newborn daughter.

Now, my daughter was born on the 8th of November 2013. She was born prematurely, at only 6 and a half months. Her arrival was supposed to be next February 2014, but I guess she wanted to come out early.

She's currently still in the hospital. Thank God that everything is okay, except that she needs to gain as much weight as well as learning to breath without a machine. She's a pretty strong little girl, which I am so thankful.

My wife and I are travelling to the hospital every night since the day she was born. She's kept in an incubator, so holding her has been to a minimum. Even I haven't held her in my arms, except for my wife.

So this is the reason of this posting and update. Due to this unforeseen factor, I have to HOLD all RK Designs projects that are currently in progress. I haven't found the right time to work on them since I work in the day, and as soon as I get home, rest a bit and head out to the hospital.

I hope that all my clients would understand my situation and be patient until I can get back to work. It has been a tiring emotional, mental and physical ride. But my priorities are to my newborn daughter. And I hope you all would truly understand what I'm going through.

As soon as my daughter comes home, and everything back to normal (which I'm not sure what normal is anymore...heh) RK Designs will be back in business and hopefully better and motivated than ever.

Thank you so much in advance and God bless.
